Corregidor Island is not just about artilleries and mortars. They also have recreational facilities for the soldier’s leisure. One of the said recreational facilities is the Cinema Corregidor also known as Cine Corregidor.
American personnel of the garrison along with their family enjoyed watching movies at Cine Corregidor before World War II broke out. The last movie that was shown was “Gone with the Wind” which starred Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh Moore.
Cine Corregidor is located left of Pacific War Memorial. Today, portions of its concrete walls, stairways leading up to the upper balcony and concrete floor, which used to be the stage, are the remains of the famous movie house.
The movie house also housed two popular relics from the past which are the fully-restored vintage cars which used to be the staff cars of then President Manuel Roxas and Gen. Douglas MacArthur. Now, these pieces are being displayed on the mainland.

Cine Corregidor is just a stone throw away from the Mile-Long Barracks and a couple of hundred meters away from Corregidor’s Spanish Lighthouse.

Cinema Corregidor – Once part of Corregidor Island’s recreational facilities, Cinema Corregidor was only a stone’s throw away from Mile-Long Barracks (part of which can be seen on the extreme left). Poignantly, the last movie that was shown here was “Gone With the Wind”. This old moviehouse used to house two relics from the past: The fully-restored staff cars of then Philippine President Manuel Quezon and Gen. Douglas MacArthur. These historical pieces are now on display on the mainland.
