Arqui’s Viewing Deck is one of the tourist destinations in the upland area of Pacijan Island, Camotes, Cebu in the Philippines. It is in the summit area of Barangay Monte Alegre (Joyful Mountain). One can see the picturesque view of the biggest lake of the Visayas, the Danao Lake as well as the islands of Cebu and Leyte from afar.
Arqui’s Viewing Deck used to be the meeting venue for the Mayor and its subsidiaries. But due to the fast spread of news about the scenic view and the very calm and relaxing ambiance, many people asked the government to allow them to get inside the area.
The admission of Arqui’s Viewing Deck is free. Sometimes a telescope is provided to render a much clearer view. A couple of caretakers are present to welcome and guide the guests. Sometimes they let the guests ride the horses if they brought them. Just don’t hesitate to ask. And if you can give them a small amount, it would really make them happy.
Arqui’s Viewing Deck is in a secluded area, located 5 minutes away from the main road. Just take the Union-Campo road going to San Francisco (the main town of Camotes). Once you reach the intersection with the left road going to the airport and hospital, across that is the road going to Arqui’s Viewing Deck. Some parts of the road are concrete while the others are rocky. There are no markers or signs outside. Just take note that once you see a white gate on the left side of the road after you see the “Welcome to Monte Alegre”, check to see if there’s a caretaker. If no one is inside, they usually leave it unlocked and going inside that gate is your prerogative.
Relax, meditate and see the wonders of Camotes at Arqui’s Viewing Deck. Chairs, tables, beds under a roofed function hall are provided. Comfort rooms, bathing and washing area are also there for your convenience.
