Bayoyoy the dwarf is one of the smallest and oldest man in the Philippines. He lives in Dauis, Panglao Island, Bohol, Philippines. Going to Bayoyoy the dwarf is included in most Bohol and Dauis-Panglao tour packages because it is very rare to see this kind of abnormality in a person. Other tourist spots included in the Panglao tour are Hinagdanan Cave, Bohol Bee Farm, Shell Musuem and a lot more.
At first when we heard of Bayoyoy the dwarf, we were thinking someone like the famous Philippine Celebrity Comedian “Dagul” who also suffered dwarfism. We were excited to go to the place as we thought that he is going to amaze us with some tricks, jokes, or magic of some sort just like in the circus. But we were wrong. When we arrived in the place, it was just like a normal, typical Filipino house with a small “sari-sari” or convenience store with Bayoyoy’s name. When we entered the gate, we saw some information and pictures on the wall and discovered that Bayoyoy the dwarf is different from all the other small people who suffered this kind of abnormality. We saw a lot of dwarfs who can run, jump, talk and play but this one is different.
In a couple of minutes, the youngest sister invited us to go upstairs to see his brother. Their parents already died some years ago. They used to be 12 children with 6 of them suffered from dwarfism. The birthing of the normal and dwarfs were alternate. The 5 other dwarfs died early and only Bayoyoy survived. He is now 63 years old and only consumes milk, oatmeal and cereals. Since there is no cure for this type of abnormality, living with it is the only choice of the family.
Entrance at Bayoyoy the dwarf is free. Since the family’s only main source of income is their small convenience store, giving them a small amount to help them with Bayoyoy’s needs and their own needs will be very beneficial to them.
