Dela Mar is where you can experience the icy-cool and crystal clear waters of the mountain spring of Iligan. It is situated in Barangay Buru-un, Timoga, Iligan, Philippines. It is one of the finest swimming pools in Timoga as they offer an Olympic size swimming pool which is one of the main attractions of Dela Mar. The Olympic size pool has an area found at the side, fenced with a net, with 16 feet depth and has a diving board which is the usual amusement area for “barkadas” (friends).
Dela Mar is located 5-10 minutes away from Maria Cristina Falls and is a walking distance from nearby pools such as El Lauriento Swimming Pool, Mimar’s Springway Resort and Timoga Spring Pool which also got their supply of superfluous water. This doesn’t mean that these pools are just wasting water; it’s just that the water flow from the mountains of Iligan is too much making it uncontrollable. In fact in nearby towns, water is free and washing clothes or car wash along the road is normal view. These people make use of the excess water by installing a hose and just leaving it flow to the lower part of the city if they don’t use it.
Dela Mar opens at 6:00 o’clock in the morning until 6:00 o’clock in the evening. Entrance fee is P50.00 per person and a corkage fee of P10.00 per case or P2.00 per bottle is collected if you choose to bring your own drinks. Dela Mar sells snacks and beverages inside and you can rent their tables at P75.00.
The house of the owner of Dela Mar is inside the resort. But it is prohibited to unauthorized person. This is used for special occasions and per request to the owner. A river-like water passage is also visible near the entrance gate. It is well-fenced to avoid any kids (or adults) jumping to the river. Sometimes the current goes strong especially during rainy season which can drag you to a far area. Slides are available at the kiddie pool. A playground with see-saw, monkey bars and swings is part of the amenities.
When in Iligan, be sure to experience the 16 feet diving area of Dela Mar and it will literally take your breath away. It’s also a family-friendly resort so bringing your family and friends can be soundly.
