One of the tourist access points to get to Lake Danao is Lake Danao Park. Unlike Green Lake Park, which is the other access point and is a privately owned park, Lake Danao Park is developed and maintained by the Local Government of San Francisco (formerly known as Suangan and Pacijan). This park is a home of the fresh tilapia, endemic trees and distinctive ducks.
Agriculture is the main concerns of the park. One can feel the fresh air and relax in the clean environment when staying at Lake Danao Park. It used to be rich in βpatosβ or ducks; this is why the label of Lake Danao Park has one βpatoβ stepping on it. Because of some folks killing these ducks, there are only very few of them alive now. The management has decided to keep these βpatosβ in a safer place.
The entrance fee to Lake Danao Park is P10.00 for adults and P5.00 for children. One can choose to ride the Sakanaw at P500 just to see the panoramic view and the two islets inside Lake Danao. For those who are bringing their own provisions, they can choose to stay at the Food Station or the Picnic Area. A sari-sari (convenience store) which sells snacks and beverages is available.
Lake Danao Park is located north of Santiago Bay and Mangodlong, it is about 20-30 minutes travel going to the town of Campo and Union. In the main road, one can see the big sign going to Lake Danao. Meters away, there are two separate roads with a sign going to Green Lake Park and the other way is going to Lake Danao Park. The road is rocky and dusty at the moment. The provincial government headed by Governor Gwen Garcia of Cebu, Philippines has already commenced the ground breaking for the concreting of road going to Lake Danao. Motorcycles are the main transportation here. Just be sure to negotiate the price before taking the ride. It will be around P50-P100 going to Lake Danao Park if youβre just staying in Pacijan Island. But if youβre staying east, after the Causeway, you will need to pay higher.
