Bantayan also known as the island paradise in the Philippines boasts their fine white sand and crystal clear blue waters which are comparable to Boracay Island. One of the Class A resorts found in this island is Ogtong Cave Resort which is also a sister resort of Sta. Fe Beach Club.
Ogtong Cave Resort is situated in Pooc, Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island, Cebu. It is located on large natural rocks with landscaped garden. It has a grassy lawns and concrete walkways leading to the beach, the cave and the swimming pool. The resort’s swimming pool uses fresh spring water which came from the cave and it is open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Ogtong Cave Resort is famous because of the cave found inside the resort. The cave is not the usual bat infested although there might be quite a few farther down the cave’s belly. There is a concrete stairway leading down the cave and the water is clear and clean. The depth of the water varies with the deepest at chest level. It would be relaxing to dip on the fresh waters of the cave and it could probably fit 30-40 people inside the cave. But 20 or less people would be ideal so it’s not that crowded. The cave at Ogtong Cave Resort is comparable to Bukilat Cave in Camotes and Hinagdanan Cave in Panglao, Bohol.
During the afternoon, when the sun is a little bit lower in the horizon would be the best time to take a plunge on the white sand beach of Ogtong Cave Resort. During low-tide it is not very ideal for swimming since the water is only up to the knee height even a few hundred meters from the shore. But it would be a great to chill and watch the beautiful sunset. It would also be soothing to burrow one’s feet into the sand while enjoying taking some pictures.
Ogtong Cave Resort offers kayaks during high tides, billiards located in the restaurant, mountain bike, electric scooters and computer station located in the lobby. The resort’s restaurant which is open from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm, offers different kinds of cuisine such as Chinese and Thai as well as fresh seafoods. For those who want to hang out with friends till dawn, the resort’s bar is open 24 hrs. They also offer a room service Thai massage from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm. The resort is a WIFI zone and they offer free WIFI access to their guests, so just ask for the password at the front desk.
Ogtong Cave Resort also has a free transfer service from and to Sta. Fe port. When departing from the resort be sure to inform the front desk agent so they can arrange ahead of time.

To the management of Ogtong Cave Resort
I know someday you will read this. HOPEFULLY you can lower your price down to P20-P50 (or even free) for a 10-30 minute sight-seeing/picture taking inside the resort. There are people who don’t need to swim in the Pool/Cave.
I requested your front desk officer to give me just 5-10 minutes time to take pictures inside so I can feature your resort in my travel website/blog. She still insisted to let me pay P120. I’m poor, so I choose not to and just “stole” some pictures in the outside area and asked for some info about the resort.
What do I get from this? NONE (maybe lost time writing this article and posting pictures)… What do you get? FREE Advertisement, more visitors. All the benefits are yours…

Although the resort itself is fine, with a large grassed area and a good pool, it is quite expensive. And the main problem is that access to the sea is not easy – there is no actual beach there, just a rocky area. Far better (and cheaper) to go to Mayet’s next door which has a large expanse of real beach.
my parents are going to the philpphines about January 2011. so i will reservate some bantayan resort. serveral years ago, i went to ogtong cage resort. that time, i felt that the ogtong cage resort had too many Mosquito. so i felt bad feeling

an last, i ask ogtong resort phone namber.
thank you and god bless you.
I’ve narrowed down my choices to: ogtong, maia’s, and white beach bungalows. In your opinion which resort has the best
1. Beach
2. Staff
3. Food
4. Rooms
5. Cleanliness
6. Overall value for money
thanks again for responding to my question. 😉
Jdcruz,
I suggest you choose Ogtong Cave Resort. You have a lot of swimming choices there – Beach, Swimming Pool, Cave; and you can also walk by the beach going to the other resorts nearby.
The staff are locals who does not speak good English but are very accommodating and friendly. The rooms and T&B are tidy and well maintained. The environment is very clean as well. I haven’t tried the food yet in any of choices you have above. Usually, we bring our own food so we can save on the expenses.
For the “biggest bang for the buck”, I go with Ogtong Cave Resort. They are not very affordable for most Filipinos but your escapade will surely be a memorable one.
hi,
my friends & i (i think we’re 10) will be going to bantayan tis november and still not decided to where will be staying..Some friends suggest in Budyong beach resort & marlin’s..we’re looking for a cheap but nice accommodations..would you know the price for the island hopping?..thanks!
Jheen08,
I think Ogtong Cave Resort is good choice for a group of 10. You can choose a bigger room and divide the price. They have a good swimming pool, a beach and the cave where your group can swim and enjoy. If you have budget constraints, I suggest you go to Sugar Beach or the ones you named above. For the island hopping, I think it’s P2000 for a return trip. But I don’t know how much it will be for a group of 10. You can try contacting Ogtong Cave and ask them about the exact figures for an Island Hopping.
Hi. I will be going to bantayan this oct. My mom is kinda crazy about sanitation, specifically bathrooms. My 7-yr old nephew and 13-yr old niece will go as well. Do you recommend this place as a family get away? Is the beach nice? It will be our first time so im really hoping to see the best and cleanest “white beach” bantayan has to offer. Thanks. 🙂
Jdcruz,
I think Ogtong Cave Resort has one of the best facilities in Bantayan Island. They maintain a tidy surrounding as well as super-clean rooms. You can also check the other beaches near the sea port of Sta. Fe, there are also a couple of excellent choices there.
hmmm… that’s quite a long trip… Do you have any idea how much is a car hire from NBT to Haganaya? And how long is the journey from Airport to NBT?
Thanks ☺
Bluebubbles,
If what you mean by car hire is a private vehicle, then I am very sorry I don’t know the price but it should be about PP500 for a 1 way trip.
Mactan Airport to North Bus Terminal is about 30-45 minutes depending on the traffic. But if you arrive in Cebu early in the morning, around 6am, it would take only 15 minutes.
Nice! Planning to go to Bantayan as well… But still undecided where to stay… Kota beach, white bungalow, beach placid, Yoneek, etc..etc… They’re all nice!
However, still have a query. If coming from Mactan Airport, where do we get a taxi to bring us to Hagnaya POrt? How much is the fare going there? Car hire – for how much as well? How many hours is the trip to Hagnaya port?
What ferry do we take if not a fast craft? how long is the journey as well?
Thanks Thanks again in advance 😉
I suggest Ogtong Cave Beach Resort or Maia’s Beach Resort. Just rent a motorcycle so you can explore the whole island.
Riding a Taxi from Mactan Airport to Hagnaya Port is too expensive. I suggest you ride a taxi from the Airport to North Bus Terminal or NBT (fare is around P100 by meter). Then take a V-Hire or Bus going to Hagnaya. There are a lot of locals who shout “Hagnaya” once you’re in NBT. Frequency of buses going to Hagnaya is every 30 minutes and the fare is about P110. Travel time from NBT to Hagnaya Port is 3 hours. Ferry from Hagnaya to Bantayan is about 1 hour with fare of less than P100 and frequency is every 1 hour.
