After going to Maria Christina Falls, we went to Tinago Falls. It is situated in Buru-un, Brgy. Ditucalan, Iligan City in the Philippines. Tinago Falls is another attraction in Iligan City and its popularity has grown all over the country and soon the world after I write this.
The name “tinago” is based from the Filipino word which means “hidden”. It is simply because Tinago Falls is covered by trees and going to the bottom area of the falls is only by means of walking down more than 400 hundred steps. It is required to be in a good physical condition, without any heart and breathing problems if you want to descend. Once you get to the area, your efforts will surely pay off as the attraction is really awesome.

The main falls is about 200 feet high. During rainy seasons, the heavy flow of water and the mist is obvious in the area. It has clean cold waters which most locals used for washing their clothes and of course swimming.
Tinago Falls is still under development to invite more tourists to visit the place. Swimming and diving from the cliff is allowed but the caretakers and government are not liable for any accidents that will happen. Swimming near the cascading waterfall is very dangerous but during our visit to Tinago Falls some local teenagers showed us what they got to convince us that it is safe. Some used a raft to visit the bottom of the falls just to experience closely the rumbling waters.

Tinago Falls in Iligan City is the perfect place to relax and enjoy with the family and friends. Visitors can listen to nature’s sound and see its explicit beauty. There used to be a man-made swimming pool for both children and adults but it was no longer maintained so the water is no longer good for swimming.
Tinago Falls entrance fee is P10.00 per person and once you are at the bottom you can opt to just watch the falls and stay at the rocky area or you can avail the cottages at a price ranging from P100-P300. There are Life jackets at P20 per person and the Raft is subject to price negotiation depending on the number of riders.
How to get there:
By jeepney: From the city proper, take a Buru-un route jeepney. Ask the jeepney driver to drop you at the Buru-un Market (or talipapa). From there, take a motorcycle and ask the driver to take you to Tinago Falls.
By cab: From the city proper, fare ranges from P150-250.

I think Tinago Falls is still open to the public but it no longer the same park it used to be. There are no more caged animals and the cottages are no longer maintained the last time we went there (last December 2011).
tinago falls used to be a high class resort back in the 90’s. it had restaurants, pools, cottages for rent, a mini park, and a mini zoo (lions, tigers, birds, etc.). it closed down though…

wow! perfect for a family vacation.
it was beautiful back then when it wasn’t developed. visited this place back late 1980’s to early 1990’s where you have to find your own way to get there. the feeling of adventure and the risk of getting and being there most likely gone. we always wished that this place will remain like it was.
where is the zipline or any adventure rides can be found? i just saw it on the movie kc and sam. pls help me where to locate that? sa tinago falls din ba un?

I think the ziplines you were referring are located in Mimbalot Falls not in Tinago Falls. I also want to inform you that there’s also a zipline in Maria Christina Falls.

is there a safe car parking areas nearby the place?

Yes. The parking area at Tinago Falls is safe. There are locals, sometimes children, who offer to watch your car while you go down, watch the magnificent Tinago Falls, until you come back. You can give them at least P5 and they will be very happy.
Try to visit Tinuy-an Falls in Bislig City Surigao del Sur, i consider it the most beautiful Waterfalls i’ve ever seen..
